How to Get Involved
There are lots of great opportunities to get involved while you're a student in linguistics.
Department events, such as the Research and Community events, are a great way to get to know faculty and other students and expand your understanding of linguistics. Projects you undertake that relate to linguistics might also be eligible for credit as an internship (LING XXXX). This includes volunteering in businesses that are related to linguistics and placements in companies that are actively involved in linguistic work or research. Come explore language with the Linguistics Club for Undergrads!
Speech Aquisition Lab
Participate in a study or experiment in the Speech Aquisition Lab.
Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program
Collaborate with a faculty member for a research program.
University of Utah Student Conference in Linguistics
Present a paper/project at the University of UUSCIL.
Lowell Bennion Community Service Center
Volunteer with the Lowell Bennion Community Service Center.

Internships
Internships supplement your academic curriculum and make you professionally competitive for potential employers.
College of Humanities Student Counsil
Meets 2–3 times each semester and will plan events, initiatives, and activities. Participate in faculty retention, promotion, and tenure processes as well as tenure faculty review; review travel funding applications for Humanities students and affiliated student organizations; and overall advocate for students in the College and generate a sense of belonging for everyone.
